Sub-accounts and roles for cPanel access

News 1 min read

One of the most requested features has always been the ability to have several independent users with access to the same cPanel control panel, and we can finally say that the cPanel development team has implemented it.

The feature is under the Manage Team option, where you can create users linked to Roles. A "role" is simply the set of permissions the new user will have, and there are currently four:

  • Administrator: access to everything, the same permissions as the account's main user.
  • Database: access to the database options.
  • Email: access to everything related to email.
  • Web: access to the options for domains, redirects and backups.

You can also set an expiry date for the user and keep track of every action carried out through an audit log.

It's true that this feature isn't perfect yet (for example, you can't assign a user to a specific domain), but it's a start and lays a foundation to build on with other options that bring more flexibility.

More information in the guide Manage Team, creating sub-accounts and roles for cPanel access in our documentation centre.

We keep improving.
