Hosting

Questions about hosting services

Do you migrate my website?

Yes, completely free and with any plan. When you order, tick the option in the order to say you have a website to bring over; if you are already a customer, request it from Bring over a website in your client area. We do everything for you, without your services going offline for a single minute, and if the website has been hacked, we clean it while bringing it over.

Are these shared hosting plans?

Each node hosts several accounts, but each one sits in a virtual container with its own allocated resources, as if it were a VPS, so it is not shared hosting in the usual sense.

Which tasks are your responsibility and which are not?

Our commitment is to provide a flexible development environment, with the highest security guarantees and maximum availability, while the installation, customisation and maintenance of your applications and developments remain your responsibility. That does not stop you from coming to us for a hand when you have questions or problems and have run out of options.

What happens if I have functionality or performance problems?

Although we provide all kinds of diagnostic and repair tools and options, there will be times when you do not know how to fix an issue. Just contact us and we will help you get your project back up and running as quickly as possible.

Which programming language do you support?

We are PHP specialists, so our services are built around it. This very website, our client area and even many internal tools were developed with this versatile language.

Which database engines do you support?

We currently support MySQL and SQLite 3.

Can I choose the PHP version?

You can change the PHP version on the fly from the control panel, from the old 5.2 to the latest 8.4 and every version in between. The choice depends on your project's requirements.

Can I customise the PHP configuration?

You can customise both the modules you need to enable and specific settings such as the memory limit, execution times and variable limits: you can fine-tune any setting you need.

Can I host with you and keep my domain with another provider?

Yes. The domain and the hosting are separate services: we will give you the DNS servers to point to from your domain provider, and the domain will be linked automatically as if it were registered with us.

How long does it take for a hosting service to be activated after ordering?

Once the payment has been received, it will be active within minutes.

Where are your servers?

We chose the Leaseweb Tier III data centre in Amsterdam as the strategic location for our main infrastructure. It gives us unbeatable connectivity with Spain and Europe, as well as the rest of the world, thanks to top-tier network providers and peering.

Do you have Spanish IP addresses?

No. Unlike many years ago, this is no longer relevant for SEO: Google has mechanisms for indicating which audience each project is aimed at, without the IP location having any influence. What matters far more is website performance and access speed.

Domains

Questions about domains

Can I register my domain with you and host it with another provider?

Of course. The domain and the hosting do not have to be with the same provider: your hosting provider will give you some DNS servers that you can point to from the client area.

Why do I have to pay a fee to transfer my domain?

Transferring a domain means it must be renewed when the transfer completes, adding 1 year to the current expiry date. The fee goes entirely towards that year of renewal.

What do I need to transfer my domain?

It depends on the extension, and the system will guide you through the process, but as a rule we will need the transfer authorisation code and you will need to check that the domain's transfer lock is disabled. Both checks must be done from your current provider's domain management panel.

How long does a domain transfer take?

Generic extensions such as .com, .net or .org take 5 days from the start of the process; some country-code extensions, such as .es, complete on the same day.

Will my domain be down during the transfer?

Both during and after the process, the domain will keep pointing to your current provider's DNS servers. This means it will keep working exactly as it did before the transfer; it will not point to our systems until the DNS servers are changed.

How long does it take for a domain to be activated after ordering?

Once the payment has been received, it will be active within minutes.

What options do I have if my domain has no hosting linked to it?

You can manage specific records (A, CNAME, TXT, etc.), redirect it to a different website, or even set up forwarders so that email sent to correo@tudominio.com is forwarded to correo@direcciondetuelección.com.

Can I register domains with accents or the letter ñ?

Yes, you can use these characters, although not every extension allows them. Some that do are .es, .eu, .com, .net, .org and .info. Either way, the system will tell you if it detects any error when you search for the domain.

Multi-account

Questions about multi-account and reseller services

How does the multi-account or reseller service work?

The reseller service lets you create and manage multiple hosting accounts under your own brand. You can set your own prices, customise the resources of each account and manage everything from a single control panel: ideal for web agencies and developers who need to look after several clients.

What features does each account have?

Each account you create has the same features as our standard hosting plans: a full control panel, MySQL databases, multiple configurable PHP versions, free SSL certificates and all the tools you need to manage professional websites.

What limits does each account have?

The only limits are, on the one hand, disk space: all the accounts together cannot exceed the space you have ordered; and on the other, resources: each account has 150% CPU and 1.5GB of RAM.

Who invoices the accounts I create?

You invoice your clients directly, setting your own prices and commercial policies. We only invoice you for the reseller plan you have ordered, keeping our relationship exclusively with you and not with your end clients.

Who provides support to your clients?

You provide support to your clients, giving them the tools and resources they need to manage their websites efficiently. We do not get involved in managing your clients and keep our relationship exclusively with you, not with your end clients, so they cannot ask us for help directly: it must always go through you.

Are all the accounts on the same server?

Not necessarily. When you create an account from your panel, the system assigns it to one of the available servers with the lowest density, so that we guarantee the stability and performance of each account.

Do you migrate my websites?

Yes, completely free. Whether you want advice during the process or would rather we did it all for you, contact us and we will prepare a plan to carry it out without your services going offline for a single minute.

Deploy+

Questions about Deploy+ and deployments from GitHub

Which plans include Deploy+?

All hosting plans, at no extra cost. You will find the tool in the client area, among the options for your hosting service.

Does it work with private repositories?

Yes, with both public and private repositories. In both cases you need a GitHub access token: create a fine-grained one, limited to the repository you are going to deploy, with Contents: Read-only and Metadata: Read-only permissions. We do not need write access to your code.

Does my website go down while it is being deployed?

No. Each deployment is cloned into a new release, the shared files are linked and your scripts run before it goes live: only when everything has succeeded is the current symlink moved to the new release, and that switch is instant. If a script fails, the deployment stops and the previous release stays online.

How do I go back to the previous release if something goes wrong?

From the history, with the Rollback button on any previous deployment. It takes seconds because nothing is cloned: it only changes which release current points to. By default the last 5 releases are kept, and you can adjust how many you want to keep.

Can I run composer, npm or artisan commands?

Yes. Each repository has a script editor where you define the commands that run on each release before it goes live: composer install --no-dev, npm run build, php artisan config:cache… The system filters out dangerous commands. To use Node.js and npm, first install them from cPanel's package manager.

What happens to the .env file and upload folders?

They are not lost between deployments. The .env file is detected and preserved automatically, and you can add any paths you like (storage/app, uploads…) as shared files: they are stored separately and linked into each new release.

elastic

web/general.faq.elastic

How is it different from traditional hosting?

You choose the resources, one by one. In a fixed plan, CPU, memory and disk come bundled: if you need more memory, you end up paying for CPU you will not use as well. Here you increase only what you are short of, when you are short of it, and reduce it just as quickly.

When is it worth it compared with a fixed plan?

When you have outgrown our largest plan, or when your usage varies a lot over the year. If your website fits comfortably in a fixed plan, we will tell you ourselves when you configure it: the fixed plan works out cheaper and we have no interest in selling you the opposite.

How am I billed if I make a change mid-month?

You are not charged anything at that moment. The change applies in seconds and the adjustment goes on your next invoice, prorated by the day: if you scaled up, what you had extra is added; if you scaled down, it is deducted. One invoice a month, like your electricity bill, with no one-off charges.

What is automatic scaling and how much can it cost me?

You set a ceiling. If your website hits its limit for a sustained period, we step it up without you having to do anything, and step it back down when the peak passes. It is charged by the hour and can never cost you more than having that level ordered for the whole month would: that is the guarantee, not an extra.

What if I can see a specific peak coming?

You switch on a temporary boost: it doubles your resources for 24, 48 or 72 hours and then returns to your configuration on its own. You get two included every year. It is meant for launches, campaigns or a news story that is going to bring a sudden rush of visitors.

Are the resources I order guaranteed?

Yes. Elastic hosting runs on low-density servers, with far fewer accounts per machine than normal shared hosting. That is why it costs what it does.

Can I go back to a fixed plan?

Whenever you like, and without migrating anything: it is the same account on the same server. It is adjusted on the following invoice like any other change.

Why can I only pay monthly?

Because flexibility and long-term commitment are incompatible. On fixed plans we reward commitment with discounts of up to 38%; here what you are buying is the ability to change your mind whenever you like, and that is paid month by month.

How is Elastic hosting different from the Max plan?

Max is a fixed size, whereas Elastic is a ladder that starts exactly where Max ends: its minimum configuration gives exactly the same resources as Max. That is why Elastic can never work out cheaper than the equivalent fixed plan. What you pay extra for is being able to scale each resource up and down separately in any month, automatic scaling during peaks and servers with far fewer neighbours. If your website fits comfortably in Max, Max is the right answer, and we will tell you so ourselves when you configure the service.

Is the multi-account plan the same as a reseller plan?

It is what everyone calls ‘reseller’, yes: independent accounts to host websites that are not yours. We call it multi-account because ‘reseller’ suggests it is only for reselling, and most people who order it do not resell: they are agencies and freelancers who look after their clients' websites. It works for both, and if you resell, you set your prices and you invoice; we keep the relationship with you and only with you.

What it is not: our old reseller plans. Those were fixed packages (a set number of accounts and amount of space) and can no longer be ordered. This one is configurable: you choose how many accounts and how many GB you want, and change them whenever you need. If you have one of the old ones it keeps working as before, and moving it to the configurable plan is a separate process that we handle: write to us and we will look into it.

When is multi-account worth it compared with ordering several plans?

There are two answers and it is best not to mix them. In terms of money, there is a number of accounts beyond which multi-account costs less than ordering an entry-level plan per client; it is worked out further up, in the pricing section of this very page. In terms of judgement, price is not the main reason: what you are buying is that each client has their own cPanel, their own password and their own resources, and that a project that takes off does not eat into everyone else's CPU. If the websites are yours and you run them yourself, it is almost never worth it.

Avanza and Max come with unlimited domains: can't I use them for my clients?

To host their websites, yes; to manage them, hardly ever. Unlimited domains means putting as many websites as you like inside a single cPanel account: one user, one password and a single pool of resources for all of them. If you give a client that access, you are also giving them the files and databases of everyone else, and a website that takes off eats into everyone's CPU. Multi-account plans exist precisely for this: one account per client, with its own access and resources.

Can I switch family without losing anything?

Yes, and we do it for you: at no cost, with no downtime and letting you know before we touch anything. Between a fixed plan and Elastic there is not even a migration: it is the same account on the same server, only the configuration changes. Moving to or from multi-account does involve transferring accounts, and we plan it with you. What you have already paid is not lost: on fixed plans and multi-account it is prorated, and on Elastic it is settled on that month's invoice.

Which of the three families is the cheapest?

The fixed plans, by a long way. Their entry-level plan costs considerably less than the base of the other two and also qualifies for a discount when you pay in advance. The other two start expensive because they start big: Elastic starts at the specification of our largest plan and multi-account starts with a batch of accounts already included. If you are looking for the cheapest option that does the job, start with the fixed plans and only move up when you outgrow them.

What happens if I run short of resources?

It depends on where you are. On a fixed plan you move up to the next one: the change is immediate, nothing needs migrating and what you have paid is prorated. If you are already on the largest, the next step is Elastic, which starts exactly there. On Elastic you increase only the resource you are short of and, if you authorise automatic scaling, we increase it ourselves when your website hits the ceiling for a sustained period and bring it back down when the peak passes. On multi-account, what grows is the number of accounts and the pool's disk space: each account's resources are fixed, so a project that needs more wants a plan of its own. In every case you will see your usage in your client area long before it becomes a problem.

Do performance, security or support change depending on the family?

No. LiteSpeed, NVMe storage, SSL certificates, backups, the firewall, cPanel, PHP versions and the technician who answers you are the same in all three. The only thing that changes is how many resources you get and how they are shared out. The only infrastructure difference is density: Elastic runs on servers with far fewer accounts per machine, and that is already included in its price.
