FFmpeg auto-installer

News 1 min read

FFmpeg is a truly versatile tool for working with video: converting between formats, taking screenshots, cutting, adding filters, syncing audio tracks... the possibilities are practically endless.

One example is a plugin such as Videopack, which uses it to generate stills of videos to show statically (as YouTube does), as well as creating versions of a video in different resolutions.

You can also use it in your own projects, running the binaries directly or with libraries such as PHP-FFMpeg.

As FFmpeg is not widely used, it does not come installed by default on hosting services. We did not want that to be a limitation, though, so we have added an installation and update wizard that gets it running in seconds with 1 click.

For more information, see the manual on managing FFmpeg.

We keep improving.
