PHP 8 by default on all new plans

Update 1 min read

PHP 8.0 is now considered stable enough and properly compatible with commonly used applications, so from today it will be the default version on all new hosting plans.

In any case, this is just a baseline recommendation so you can take advantage of all the performance benefits this version offers. Remember you can always choose the PHP version that best suits your project's needs, from 5.2 to 8.0.

The PHP version you currently have active won't be changed under any circumstances; this only applies to new services.

Although unrelated, a question we're often asked is how we can offer an old version such as PHP 5.2, 5.3, 5.4... without creating security risks. 5.x, like later versions except those under active development, is officially abandoned by the PHP team.

However, we use the packages provided by CloudLinux. This operating system maintains its own repository and commits to fixing any security flaw found in old versions, so we can offer a "legacy" environment without creating security risks.

We keep improving.
