Usability and design improvements in the client area

Update 3 min read

A few days ago we launched a new version of the client area that we had been working on for some time. The main goal was to improve usability and loading times and to prepare the system for the new features coming in 2023, but we also wanted to give it a fresher, more modern look in line with the rest of our identity.

Although there are many changes, mostly internal, we have tried to keep the existing structures as far as possible, avoiding major changes to the workflow that would mean learning how to use it all over again.

We have also tried to polish every option so it is as simple as possible, removing anything that did not add value. Of all the improvements, we would like to highlight the following:

Search comfortably from anywhere

The service search was long overdue, so we rebuilt it from scratch. You can open it with a click on the bar or with keyboard shortcuts (CMD+K on macOS and CTRL+K on Windows and Linux), move between results with the tab and arrow keys, and open one by pressing Enter.

Better on mobile devices

The previous area did not work badly on small screens, but there was room for improvement. With this update we wanted any action to be as easy to carry out as at your usual computer, whether you are on a phone or a tablet.

Bulk renewal

Bulk renewal of services has been improved with real-time feedback, so you can renew dozens of services at once more quickly, which is useful if you have a large number of domains and hosting services with us.

For the curious

Many of you have asked whether the client area uses commercial software. In fact, it is our own development, which we started investing in a few years ago to get the flexibility we needed to work and that we wanted to offer (not just the client area, but also our monitoring and security systems and many other internal tools integrated into this system and developed by us).

It is all built on the so-called TALL stack, made up of Laravel, Livewire, Alpine.js and TailwindCSS. This combination is really powerful for building any web application you can imagine, so if you are a developer, we encourage you to try these technologies in your projects, all of them compatible with our hosting services.

We keep improving.
