Roundcube improvements and spam auto-purge
cPanel version 104, now available on every system, brings a few new features that, though small at first sight, can make a significant difference.
Mark as spam or not spam
Among the various mechanisms for fighting spam is SpamAssassin, a powerful anti-spam filter that analyses the source of every email to find suspicious patterns, text, URLs, viruses and so on.
Although SpamAssassin is effective out of the box, its strong point is machine learning, which unfortunately goes unnoticed. If an unwanted email lands in your inbox, simply mark the email as spam so that SpamAssassin learns from its mistake and becomes more accurate with every correction. Likewise, if a wanted email ends up in spam, mark it as not spam to avoid future mistakes.
Until now this meant moving emails manually from one folder to another, which was not very intuitive. This new version of Roundcube adds action buttons to the top bar so you can easily mark an email as spam.
Dark mode
Dark mode was one of the features most requested by the Roundcube community. This new version lets you switch between light and dark mode on demand from the left sidebar, and it also adapts when dark mode is set at operating system level, for example so that it changes automatically at certain times of day.
Auto-purging the folder
Just like the trash, the spam folder tends to pile up space that is never recovered: users don't empty it until the account runs out of space and the service administrator starts looking for ways to recover space taken up for no reason.
The trash is emptied automatically, but the spam folder was not. From now on it purges emails older than 60 days, so these folders no longer eat into the disk space of your service.
