Why Elgg

Ready for today and tomorrow.

Elgg is a free software platform for creating your own social networks, tailored to the needs of individuals, groups or organisations. It is ideal if you want to set up a private network for your team, community or educational project, without relying on external services.

It includes all the essentials: user profiles, groups to organise communities, a blog, sharing of files and media, notifications and a wall called The wire for short messages. You can also manage pages and social bookmarks, and control access to content. The dashboard brings all activity together and lets you customise the experience. If you want flexibility and full control over your social network, Elgg is a solid choice.

Available versions: 6.3.8, 6.3.6, 6.3.5, 5.1.12
